Odia Samaj has undertaken relief work at two villages namely Birijanga and Madhipur near Konark which were severely affected by the Cyclone Fani . This was implemented through a Local NGO named as FIDR . The relief was to support 2500 school childern by providing them with educational kits containing school bags , note books and geometrical box . 300 kg of milk powder was provided to supply milk to the school childern for 4 months.

Youths inspiring the nation with their outstanding performances are now a regular scene in our country. Odisha too is acing in the game, 14 underprivileged students have cracked the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Beating all odds these 14 students cleared the exam this year and the credit goes to one and only 47-years-old Ajaya Bahadur Singh, a tea & sharbat (soft drinks) seller who hails from Odisha. Singh’s father was an engineer and aspired to make his son a doctor. However, a kidney transplant of Singh’s father forced the family to sell their property, leaving them financially constrained. In order to support his family, Singh had to sell tea. He wanted to become a doctor but couldn’t fulfill his dream & to sustain his family he chose this profession.

The 11th edition of the Young Astronomer Talent Search ( YATS ) , an annual competition organised for the school childern of Odisha to create awareness on space science and astronomy was launched today by Shri Badri Narayan Patra , Minister , School & Mass Education and Science Technology , Govt. of Odisha at the State Secretariat . It was Organised by Tata Steel in association with Pathani Samanta Planetarium . The theme for this year`s YATS is India`s Contribution to Space Science.
